Inland Railway guides you through the Swedish wilderness with a route that has over a hundred years of history. If you are thinking of stepping on-board, it is with your personal prerequisite the experience starts. You will choose your starting point from north to south or vice verse.
Kristinehamn is the southernmost starting point and Gällivare the northernmost starting point. But either way, you will meet people from every corner of the world and collect memories and new adventures to your outdoor backpack. If you are travelling with Inland Railway in the summer, you can enjoy the light of Swedish summer nights when it never gets dark. And south of Jokkmokk you pass the geographical Arctic Circle and you encounter the midnight sun and the unique Sami culture where you can discover art, food and reindeer husbandry.
But keep your eyes open because Sweden’s four predators: The bear, wolf, lynx and wolverine lives in this area and even if they are very shy you will have the chance to catch a sight next to the Inland railway track. If you are travelling during the winter you will most likely see the Auroras, a light phenomenon that we call the Nothern Lights which is a spectacle of blue, green, red and purple colours of the sky, and most visible during dark winter nights.
