CNN have ranked the Swedish challenge “Ö till Ö” as one of the toughest challenges in the world, and of course we want to share that news with you. You might get inspired to make this challenge your new goal, if you haven’t already reached it. Otherwise we have the opportunity to introduce you to Stockholm’s unique archipelago.
Ö till Ö is the ultimate race for all of you who are training with a partner. Otherwise you will need to start getting a team of two, because this is teamwork on a high level. As a team you will be swimming from island to island and run across them, from one point to another at the opposite side. You will be running through the woods of high tree trunks and swim in the ocean of playing waves. The total distance for Ö till Ö is 75 kilometres, 10 kilometres of them are swimming and 65 kilometres are running. The challenge includes three big islands which is the story of the name Ö till Ö, such as Runmarö, Nämdö and Ornö. The archipelago is a cluster of collection of islands and these three are a part of it. The landscape has been shaped by the huge weight of ice sheets during the last glacial period. And that is why the area is characteristic. Many artists and authors have been influenced and rapt by Stockholm’s archipelago,as have we. The bigger islands are easy to visit all year round, since there are several boat companies who have regular routes. And if you are not comfortable going by boat, you can always swim – from island to island, or Ö to Ö.
